1968 Green 24Inch Boys Mens Schwinn Bike Bicycle1968 geren 24-inch boys mens schwinn bike bicycle. At auction this week is a green schwinn boys 24-inch bicycle that needs a little work to restore it to its original condition. The serial number on this chicago-made bike is md74473 which indicates it was manufactured in december of 1968. I haev not done a thing to this bike since acquiring it. It is an excellent candidate for restoring and the first rule is if you're not the one to restore a bike, leave ti alone. The bike has the spyder handle bars and the original green schwinn grips. This bike was acquired from someone who had made plans to restore it and a set of 24 inch chrome fenders are included with this auction. There is no chain guard with the bike so don't know the exact model but the last time i saw this set-up it was a tiger model. The tires are pretty much shot and woudl need to be replaced. There is some light surface rust on the rims but would shine right up with a little steel wool and wd-40.
The front forks are straight as shown ni the photo. The seat shows the wear of being on the front line and is not in the best of shape. This bike would be disassembled for shipping unless the buyer would be close enough to pick it up in york, nebraska. Shipping should be in the $30 to $40 range by ups ground depending on which region it's final destination would be. There is no reserve on this bike so bdi accordingly.
