Vintage Schwinn 24 Inch Cantilever Straight Bar Typhoon This wonderful 24 inch boys bike is the rare straight bar model made for a few years in the 1950s. The bike has been painted with a spray can, but i sanded off some paint and i find the decal on the chain guard reads typhoon. The serial number on the rear drpo out is c237793. The frame otehr than the paint, is perfect, the schwinn built in kickstand works like new. The chrome non-schwinn rear fender comes with a matching front fender to be installed by the buyer if so desired.
(the front fender in the photo is the origianal schwinn with the spray paint job). The wheel rims are non-schwinn, but closely resemble schwinn s-2. The new tires and tubes are 24 by 2.0. The coaster brake is a bendix 70, very clean and in excellent operating order. The front hub is the original schwinn script hub. The seat and handle grisp are schwinn in black color.
The original schwinn approved pedals are in great condition with good diamond tread, and snug but free spinning ball bearings. This bike from the schwinn hcicago factory can be ridden as is or could be a perfect start for restoration.
